Welcome Package — Guided 2-Hour Wildlife Kayaking Tour

Please allow for up to 3 hours of time with us.

Thank you for booking a Sealegs Kayaking Adventure! For this 2 hour tour we will meet at Transfer Beach, Ladysmith. Our guides will offer paddling instruction, a safety review and will individually fit you into your kayak and PFD. We will launch from the beach and paddle at a leisurely pace traveling along the shoreline following a brief crossing to Woods Island.

Trip Preparation

Many people express concern about their ability to keep up with the rest of the group or about their limited paddling experience. At Sealegs, our group travels at the pace of the slowest paddlers. Our goal is to ensure all participants are comfortable, safe and enjoy the tour. Our guides are experienced sea kayak professionals with Guide Leadership and Wilderness 1st Aid training and ‘teach as they go’ to help you paddle efficiently, avoid injury and reduce fatigue.

Equipment / Clothing — items you may wish to bring
  • Shorts or quick-drying pants (no jeans/cotton)
  • Shoes that can get wet
  • Extra clothing & shoes for your return
  • Rainproof jacket and pants
  • Hat (sun or warmth, as needed)
  • Gloves for cooler temperatures
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and lip balm
  • Personal first-aid kit
  • Any needed medication
  • Insect repellent
  • Water bottle (2 litres)
  • Towel
  • Camera / binoculars (waterproof recommended)
  • Cell phone in a waterproof bag (we can lend one)
Directions to Transfer Beach
From the north (Nanaimo): Turn left at the second set of traffic lights as you enter Ladysmith — this is Transfer Beach Boulevard. Follow it, keeping right, until you reach the beach. We’re beside the waterpark!
From the south (Chemainus, Duncan, Victoria): Turn right at the second set of traffic lights as you enter Ladysmith — this is Transfer Beach Boulevard. Follow it, keeping right, until you reach the beach. We’re beside the waterpark!

There will be a waiver form provided upon arrival that must be signed by all participants. Please feel free to contact us if you have any concerns or questions. The only thing we can’t plan on is good weather — we paddle rain or shine, but winds may hold us back and force a cancellation or postponement. Your safety will always be our main concern.

We look forward to paddling with you!
Sincerely, Bud & Sheryll Bell and the Sealegs Guide Team
