Ladysmith is an oceanside community located mid Vancouver Island, 20 minutes south of Nanaimo and an hour's drive north of Victoria.
The town has been named one of Canada's prettiest towns by Harrowsmith magazine and is worth the visit to the community formed in 1898 by coal baron, James Dunsmuir. The community's theme is "A View To Sea" recognizing the town jewel to be Transfer Beach, one of the most beautiful municipal oceanside parks on Vancouver Island.
The community's downtown core has received awards for its downtown revitalization project thanks to the progressive efforts and vision of its community leaders.
