About Sealegs Kayaking

Sealegs' dream was realized when Bud was diving in the Haida Gwaii Islands. He observed a group of kayakers paddling by him and was inspired! Having scuba dived all along BC's coastline and having explored many small towns, he knew Ladysmith Harbour would be the ideal place for paddling with its calm waters, abundance of wildlife and its proximity to the Gulf Islands.

Bud's career in Forestry Management and Commercial Diving and Sheryll's career in Recreation have been perfect backgrounds to form this exciting recreational and educational venture. The Bells and their four girls have lived and worked in Ladysmith for the past 21 years. They have offered sea kayak tours, lessons, sales and rentals from Transfer Beach, Ladysmith since 1997.

They have since expanded and now offer Gourmet Adventures, Stand-up Paddle Boarding and a Snorkel with the Seals tour.

We have a strong, professional guide team that enjoys teaching our guests about kayaking, wildlife and local history. Click here to learn more about the team.

Safety is our #1 priority

As educators, the Sealegs guide and administrative team realizes the importance of updating skills and keeping current with new information and legislation that affects their field of expertise.

All tours and hourly rentals include a free introductory lesson. Rates include safety gear including a PFD, paddle, throw rope, paddle float and pump.

Guides are members of the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC (SKGABC) and keep their skills and qualifications up to date.

Comfort

Since wilderness adventures do not come with the creature comforts of home, we make sure you are comfortable on your vacation by providng meals that are nutritious, delicious, plentiful and satisfy food allergies and tolerances.

To conserve energy and ensure comfort in your kayak, we teach proper paddling techniques.

Sealegs' Eco Adventure Centre in Ladysmith makes an easy meeting point for most of our tours. You will not need to travel on remote backroads to get to your launch site.

We want you to have a refreshing, exhilarating outdoor experience and be more than happy with your adventure holiday. We treat our clients as we treat guests to our home. Our repeat guests trust us and feel comfortable referring friends and family. If we don't live up to your expectations, we want to hear from you so we can maintain our relationship with you.

You've gotta have fun...you're on holiday! That's another reason why we take the daily tasks of cooking, clean-up and logistics off your hands. You will have free time to paddle,, explore and relax.
