Sea Kayaking The Broken Group Islands
The Broken Group Islands in Pacific Rim National Park have been
summer hunting sites for the ancestral First Nations Nuu-chah-nulth
people for centuries. This unique cluster of islands is the perfect
sheltered environment for paddlers wanting to experience the Canadian
west coast. The islands have everything to offer; from the rugged
west coast shoreline to calm bays and lagoons. Barkley Sound is
home to whales, sea lions, bald eagles and an amazing variety and
abundance of intertidal sea life. We will journey together each
day to discover and view dramatic exposed coastlines, shell beaches,
fascinating lagoons, former native stone fish traps, sea arches,
caves, sea urchins, sea anemones, sea cucumbers, sea stars...
